Those of us who love tango are always trying to convince non-tango dancers that the world would be a better place if everyone danced tango. It truly would be a world community! Unfortunately, the stereotype of tango seen in the movies and on television does little to support our argument. Since for better or worse, the world pays attention to what happens in Hollywood, let's have Hollywood really show what true Argentine tango is. Carlos Gardel deserves a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. The fact that THE icon of tango, who was a world-famous figure at the time of his death in 1935, is not represented on Hollywood's most famous street is a sad omission and one YOU can help correct. The application process opens in April and voting takes place in June. When the application is approved, the fee is $50,000. The money is used to pay for the creation and installation of the star, as well as maintenance of the Walk of Fame. All monies raised above our initial goal will go to the fees for closing off Hollywood Boulevard on the day of the ceremony. TV cameras from around the world focus on this event so on the day Carlitos gets his star the world will see true Argentine tango being danced in the street.      ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE!
